Activities and Events
Each year, our sub-Branch conducts several commemorative and community based activities and events including Anzac Sunday (parade and lunch), Anzac Day Dawn Service and march in the city, Remembrance Day, and Australia Day flag planting at the Castle Hill Cemetery and Castlebrook Memorial Park.
For more information on these and other commemorative events and how you can contribute, please contact our Vice President - Commemoration, Mike Yeo.
The sub-Branch conducts a wide variety of Sydney Hills community based activities including Legacy week, Homes for Heroes walks, and Relay for Life amongst many others.
The sub-Branch Gym Group was formed on 8 April 2004 by a group of Vietnam veterans who were keen to get back into shape and enjoy social interaction with like-minded people.
The program is supervised by a qualified fitness instructor using the facilities of the C2K Gym. Classes for beginners commence at 1.30pm on Mondays and Thursdays each week and run for one hour. We encourage members to arrive earlier than 1.30 to conduct their own warmup before classes. An additional class is run at 2.30 for those considered to be a bit fitter than the first group.
The Monday class centres around aerobic and weight bearing activities and Thursdays are conducted in the small pool and involves stretching, aerobic activities and a game of modified water polo.
New members are interviewed before they commence by the sub-Branch Coordinator who provides a detailed rundown of the programme and ensures that you are provided with the paperwork to be fully informed before starting with the group. A doctor’s certificate is required to ensure any existing health conditions are understood and taken into account by the instructor.
The C2K provides a discounted membership fee for sub-Branch members and requires fees to be paid by Bank authority direct to the gym.
As an additional benefit to members, if they attend a minimum of 70% of organised classes and attend at least one sub-Branch General Meeting per quarter, (held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7.30 pm, in the Club), then the sub-Branch refunds 50% of your gym fees direct to your bank account.
Any ex-service member is entitled to join the gym group provided they are members of both the Castle Hill RSL Club Ltd and its sub-Branch, and have a medical clearance.
Should you be interested in joining us or seek further details of gaining fitness while having some fun and meeting new friends, please contact Phill Evenden.
Several one day or overnight trips are held each year. These are subsidised by the sub-Branch to allow members and partners to visit appropriate locations.
Members and spouses gather for a Christmas lunch in the Club, subsidised by the sub-branch. We also conduct an event for Christmas in July.
Saturday Morning Tea
Morning Teas are held several times a year with a guest speaker. This suits members who cannot get out at night for the monthly meeting but all are welcome. Best to book in for catering purposes. Partners welcome.
Please contact our Social Secretary, Barry Pareezer for more information on our social activities.
Each Monday we have gentle exercises, quizzes, song time, card games, and various board games.
We always welcome new members along to our club on Mondays. We also provide transport.
Further information about the Club can be obtained from our Day Club Coordinator Jenny Kington on 0420 440 095 or Bill Driver (Assistant Coordinator) on 0413 455 526.
